John joined the Office of Intercultural Development after over 20 years service as the Debate Coach at Lafayette College. Before joining Lafayette, he was the debate coach at Central Michigan University, the University of Puget Sound, and the University of Notre Dame. John also served as the Director of the National Forensics Association ‘s National Tournament. Held annually in April, the National Tournament gathers students from over 70 schools from around the nation to compete in 11 speech and debate events. Based on his years as a competitor, coach, and administrator, he was inducted into the National Forensics Association Hall of Fame.
His time as a coach and administrator cultivated a desire to improve the experience for underserved and underrepresented student populations. As the office coordinator for the Office of Intercultural Development and Office of Religious and Spiritual Life, John is available to interface with these communities and help ensure their access to services and representation on campus.
